    The chapter got its start when a small group of payroll professionals decided it was time to provide continuing education and networking opportunities for payroll and human resource professionals in the area. In the future the group hopes to offer study groups for those who would like to sit for the CPP and FPC exams as well as get involved in the community.

          Payroll Accountant I

          This position conducts work directly related to management or general business operations in an organization or functional area. The work requires advanced knowledge gained from a prolonged course of specialized instruction, experience, and expertise. The position includes work requiring the consistent exercise of discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance.


           As an entry level position, this role develops Payroll Accounting knowledge and ability to maintain a set of pay statements for an employee. This position performs basic payroll activities such as employee separations, international banking, withholding applicable taxes, foreign payrolls taxes, government audits, labor recons, relocations and more.

          Principle Job Duties & Responsibilities:                

          Analyze employee information, banking and taxes and employer tax liabilities and recon banking issues
          • Payroll labor laws in foreign countries and domestic laws by state
          • Payroll State, County and local tax laws domestically for employee and employer
          • Analyze and make independent recommendations regarding solutions to problems with varying complexity in accordance with organization and/or project objectives and guidelines
          • Organize and prioritize a variety of projects and multiple tasks in an effective and timely manner, set priorities, and meet deadlines
          • Plan and organize own work assignments, as well as carry out tasks from management staff
          • Maintain compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, and global standards
          • Adhere to and support Fluor's Health, Safety & Environmental and Sustainability Policies
          • Effectively develop and apply the Core Skills to the job
          • May need to travel to attend to business related matters
          • Meet expectations on attendance and punctuality
          • Other duties as assigned

           Basic Job Requirements

           • Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in applicable field of study and no required years* of work-related experience or a combination of education and directly related experience equal to four (4) years* if non-degreed; some locations may have additional or different qualifications in order to comply with local requirements Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors
          • Strong experience with Microsoft Excel
          • Experience working with SAP preferred
          • Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
          • Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines

          HCM Specialist

          Primary Position Summary:  Performance Payroll is looking for a professional to handle our clients in a fun, fast paced, dynamic environment. The HCM Specialist will normally handle a portfolio of clients, assisting with questions relating to their payroll, tax and HR services. The Specialist will be the primary point of contact for all client inquiries. This individual will provide excellent client support and resolve client issues using effective problem solving skills in a timely manner.           • Representative must demonstrate ability to respond to client questions in a timely manner.
          • Communicate with Tax Department if client receives a tax notice. Assist Tax Department in communicating next steps for the client.
          • Representative should strive to provide a positive customer experience throughout the entire payroll process.
          • Up-sell clients by periodically explaining the benefits of additional products that the client does not use.
          • Participating in designated client calling, card writing and other retention oriented programs. (We bring Southern Hospitality to the payroll industry.)
          • Maintaining a high rate of client retention through quality service.

           Education / Training / Certifications:

           Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) preferred.

          • BA/BS degree is preferred with a track record of proven customer service skills.
          • Great communication skills are a must.
          • Comfortable with business software is important.

          Setup, Training & successful implementation of clients into our Human Capital Management software.
          Act as primary contact for the client during the implementation process and is responsible for all communication regarding implementation plan and timeline.
          Must be comfortable and proactive in reaching out to clients via phone and email regarding all implementation activity.
          Enter previous payroll provider data, if applicable, and follow balancing procedures to ensure all converted data is accurate.

          Payroll Specialist, Full Time
          Location: Greenville, SC


          Responsible for delivering exceptional customer service while processing payrolls of varying size and complexity for multiple small to mid-sized businesses. Additional responsibilities include interacting and assisting clients with new employee onboarding process, ensuring all documentation is received and accurately processed for payroll production and setting up employee profiles (eg, personal information, tax deductions, garnishments, levies, etc.) in payroll software.

          Job Summary

          Performs a wide variety of payroll processing activities and record keeping to ensure the timeliness and accuracy of the bi-weekly payroll. Proficient in working in Payroll and Time and Attendance software systems including editing functions.  Provides guidance, direction and education to managers, timekeepers and employees in payroll related matters. 

           Minimum Education

           Associate's Degree - Accounting, Business Administration or closely related field.

        Job Duties and Responsibilities

        • Provides superior customer service to all employees
        • Preparation of payroll data for assigned territory; includes approving payroll changes, new hires, terminations, W-4 changes, direct deposit and pay card changes
        • Opens/Processes/Closes payrolls within the Human Resources computer system(s)
        • Prepares and distributes payroll reports/exports/funding, runs GL reports at month end, and calls in NACHA file to bank if Payroll Manager and Lead Payroll Administrator are unavailable.
        • Researches and prepares special reports for management and other personnel
        • Performs calculation of monthly bonus using computerized systems and manual spreadsheets
        • Tests computer systems and upgrades to ensure payroll is processed correctly
        • Review timecards for accuracy for assigned territory
        • Run GL and prepare journal entries for any necessary branch expense changes
        • Trains other payroll personnel
        • Prompt and regular attendance is required
