Welcome to the Upstate SC APA!



SubChapter #153 of the American
Payroll Association has been created in the Upstate of South Carolina.  The chapter will serve the areas of Greenville, Spartanburg, and Anderson as well as the other surrounding counties and cities.


      2018 Meetings will be moved to Patewood Rd Location

    The next chapter meeting will be Thursday, August 9th.

    The chapter got its start when a small group of payroll professionals decided it was time to provide continuing education and networking opportunities for payroll and human resource professionals in the area. In the future the group hopes to offer study groups for those who would like to sit for the CPP and FPC exams as well as get involved in the community.

          PAYROLL MANAGER
        GREENVILLE, SC

        Pay Range $70-$80k 
        Oversee payroll for US operations and corporate office (`1500 employees)  Manage small team and develop processes.  Knowledge and experience with multi-state manufacturing payroll is desired.

        Job Title: PAYROLL COORDINATOR

        Job Summary

        Performs a wide variety of payroll processing activities and record keeping to ensure the timeliness and accuracy of the bi-weekly payroll. Proficient in working in Payroll and Time and Attendance software systems including editing functions.  Provides guidance, direction and education to managers, timekeepers and employees in payroll related matters. 

         Minimum Education

         Associate's Degree - Accounting, Business Administration or closely related field.

         Minimum Experience

         5 years - Payroll experience

         In lieu of the Above Minimum Requirements

         High school diploma or equivalent and 10 years of Payroll experience.

         Other Required Experience

         FPC - Preferred

             Payroll Positions Available:

      Qualifications

      • 4-5 Years of High Volume Payroll
      • Knowledge of payroll principles and practices
      • Computer literate and proficient in MS -Office, especially Excel and Word
      • Accurate data entry skill
      • Demonstrated organizational skills

      Job Duties and Responsibilities

      • Provides superior customer service to all employees
      • Preparation of payroll data for assigned territory; includes approving payroll changes, new hires, terminations, W-4 changes, direct deposit and pay card changes
      • Opens/Processes/Closes payrolls within the Human Resources computer system(s)
      • Prepares and distributes payroll reports/exports/funding, runs GL reports at month end, and calls in NACHA file to bank if Payroll Manager and Lead Payroll Administrator are unavailable.
      • Researches and prepares special reports for management and other personnel
      • Performs calculation of monthly bonus using computerized systems and manual spreadsheets
      • Tests computer systems and upgrades to ensure payroll is processed correctly
      • Review timecards for accuracy for assigned territory
      • Run GL and prepare journal entries for any necessary branch expense changes
      • Trains other payroll personnel
      • Prompt and regular attendance is required
